100% VA Disability Rating
Benefits & Compensation (2026)
A 100% VA disability rating means the Department of Veterans Affairs has determined that your service-connected conditions reduce your overall functional capacity by 100%. As of 2026, this rating qualifies you for monthly tax-free disability compensation and unlocks a range of federal and state benefits designed to support your quality of life.
2026 Monthly Compensation Rates
Veterans with a 100% disability rating receive $3938.58 per month ($47262.96 per year) in tax-free compensation as a single veteran with no dependents. If you have a spouse, children, or dependent parents, your monthly payment increases. These rates are adjusted annually based on the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) — the 2026 rates reflect the latest increase.
Rates effective December 2025 (2026 COLA adjustment). Additional amounts available for dependent children over 18 in school and Aid & Attendance for spouse.

Priority Group 1 — Highest priority enrollment, lowest copays
At 100%, you qualify for Priority Group 1 — Highest priority enrollment, lowest copays. This means no copays for VA healthcare services, including prescriptions, and your dependents may qualify for CHAMPVA coverage.
Key Benefits at 100% Disability

This includes complete property tax exemptions in most states, free hunting and fishing licenses, dependent education benefits under Chapter 35 (DEA), Space-Available flights on military aircraft, and eligibility for Special Monthly Compensation if you have specific severe disabilities.
