Free career mentorship available through ACP program
The American Corporate Partners program is offering free, year-long career mentorship to post-9/11 veterans and military spouses who are navigating the transition to civilian employment. This professional development program pairs participants with experienced professionals from more than 100 partner companies who volunteer their time to provide tailored career guidance, industry insights, and practical feedback throughout the mentorship year.
American Corporate Partners, known as ACP, operates as a structured mentorship initiative designed specifically to address the employment challenges facing the post-9/11 military community. The program recognizes that veterans often face significant obstacles when translating military experience into civilian career opportunities, including understanding where their skills fit in the job market, how to communicate their value to employers, and how to navigate unfamiliar professional landscapes. Unlike brief workshops or one-time counseling sessions, ACP provides sustained, personalized support through a full year of one-on-one mentorship.
This program is available exclusively to post-9/11 veterans and military spouses, regardless of disability rating or separation status. The eligibility window focuses on era of service rather than specific medical conditions or VA enrollment requirements, making it accessible to a broad swath of the recent veteran community. Military spouses facing their own employment challenges due to frequent relocations and the demands of supporting a service member are also eligible to participate.
According to program data from 2025, 48 percent of participants reported securing employment during their mentorship across more than 1,400 companies. The average salary for these participants was reported to be more than $40,000 higher than at the start of the mentorship, demonstrating measurable economic impact. The program boasts a 98 percent recommendation rate among alumni, and has built a professional network community of over 92,000 members through its LinkedIn presence.
For disabled veterans specifically, this program addresses a critical gap in the transition process that medical retirement and disability compensation alone cannot fill. While VA disability benefits provide essential financial support and healthcare access, they do not solve the challenge of building a meaningful civilian career that accommodates service-connected limitations while providing purpose and additional income. Many disabled veterans face underemployment despite their skills and experience, and a knowledgeable mentor can help identify roles and industries that align with both capabilities and limitations.
Veterans interested in the program should consider applying directly through ACP, where an associate will reach out within 24 hours to schedule an introductory call. During that conversation, program staff will discuss background, experience, and career goals to facilitate the best possible mentor match from their network of corporate partners. The one-on-one structure is designed to flex around individual schedules and shifting priorities, making it particularly suitable for veterans managing medical appointments, treatment schedules, or family responsibilities alongside their job search.
