What is the PACT Act?
The PACT Act of 2022 is one of the largest expansions of VA benefits in decades. It added many conditions to the VA’s “presumptive” lists for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, radiation, and other toxic substances — meaning the VA presumes these conditions were caused by service, so you do not have to prove the connection.
What does “presumptive” mean?
If you served in a qualifying location and time, and you have a condition on the presumptive list, the VA automatically presumes your service caused it. That removes the hardest part of a claim — proving the link between your service and your illness.
Do I need a diagnosis to use this screener?
No. This screener matches only where and when you served against the PACT Act presumptive-exposure locations. Every veteran who served in a qualifying location can also request a free VA toxic-exposure screening, even without a diagnosis.
